The Azzurri World Cup Star Captains
Giampiero COMBI1934 World Champion Captain
1938
The second part about the Azzurri records in the World Cup championship
AZZURRI WORLD CUP STARS 2
The Azzurri are one of the most successful teams in the history of the World Cup. They became World Champions four times, winning twice each the Rimet Cup and the FIFA Cup. They almost won the Rimet Cup forever when in the 1970 edition they played the final against Brazil, with both teams needing just one victory to keep the cup. Unfortunately the Brazilians won the match and the Azzurri had to be content with the second place. Twenty four years later, in 1994 they again finished second when they played the final against Brazil and again lost, but this time with a penalty shoot-out. The Italian national team finished also once third and once fourth. Italy hosted the competition twice, in 1934 and 1990 and during the years established a lot of records, both as a team and the players individually. These pages honours
all those who made us fans dream - the stars in the Azzurri World Cup History. The second page highlights the Players and all their achievments.
